OVERVIEW

Telehealth provides services using telecommunication technologies to support and promote long-distance health care. In the case of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) connects remotely via video-conferencing and the Behavior Technician works directly with the child in-person, both building rapport with the child and implementing the program that the BCBA has created specifically based on the child’s needs. Check out this video and written resource to learn more about the science and practice of behavior analysis. You may also review our in-home services page to learn more about treatment approaches.

Telehealth has become increasingly important in providing medically-necessary ABA services to areas where ABA providers are not as easily accessible. Most importantly, however, telehealth services can be effective, convenient, and more cost-effective for families and providers of ABA services. Telehealth-ABA results in more frequent and enhanced supervision by the BCBA as a result of decreased travel time.

GOALS

To bring the child’s skills up to the level of same-age peers while also reaching families in areas where ABA services may not be easily accessible.

PARTICIPATION

All programs require parent participation as training parents is an integral and essential part of their child’s learning.

HOURS

Hour recommendations are based on the results of the intake assessment and research demonstrating that children benefit most from a higher number of service hours.

LOCATION

Services take place primarily in the home, but sometimes schools will approve ABA services delivered via telehealth. Community visits are also possible with telehealth services.

Telehealth Consultation

STE Consultants can provide consultation services only if the parent/caregiver requests it and the child’s assessment results support this model.

A BCBA works directly with the parents/caregivers to train them on the program carefully developed to address the child’s individual needs.

GOALS

The goals will focus on the parent/caregiver’s most important or significant concerns. These concerns may be related to skill acquisition or behavior reduction.

HOURS

Hour recommendations vary depending on the needs of the individual and his/her parents or caregivers.

LOCATION

Services take place primarily in the home, but sometimes schools will approve ABA services delivered via telehealth. Community visits are also possible with telehealth services.
